DrugStore Makeup Review

I decided to put some popular drugstore makeup brands to the test by creating a full-face look using nothing but drugstore products. Some of the products I was pleasantly surprised with, but there were also some that I really didn’t like. Keep reading to find out all about what I thought of the products. To see the look I created with these drugstore brands check out this video on our YouTube. (Click Here)

Maybelline Face Studio Master Prime, Blur + Redness Control

This product had some really great reviews and I agree with them all. The primer felt refreshing and left a smooth finish to apply makeup to. The one thing I thought was a little weird about this product was the inconsistency of stores pricing. This Maybelline product can be found for as little as $3 dollars online; however, the product costs $5 in target, and $10 in Ulta Beauty.

NYX Photogenic Concealer Wand, Nude Beige

The NYX Photogenic Concealer Wand has a great shade range for everyone. I purchased it in the color nude beige for $5.97. The product has a great texture and looks like it would provide great coverage, but, I found that when trying to blend the product it kind of wipes away. After applying a few times I was able to get the coverage I was looking for, but because I had to use so much product I was pretty disappointed with this concealer.

Maybelline Fit Me Dewy + Smooth Foundation, Light Beige

I am a huge fan of Maybelline’s Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation so, I was very excited to try the Dewy + Smooth Foundation so, I purchased it for $5.69. This product wasn’t necessarily bad, but it was nothing compared to their other foundation. The matte foundation has really nice coverage, its super easy to blend, and leaves a gorgeous finish. The dewy foundation was a little bit more watery, and not even close to the same coverage.

Revlon ColorStay Brow Pencil, Dark Brown

This was my least favorite product that i purchased for this review. It costs $4.74 and I’ve never really heard much about it, but Revlon is very well known drugstore brand so I figured I would give it a shot. The product comes in a pencil with a spoolie on the other end which I do like, but the actual product felt more like an eyeliner than an eyebrow pencil. The brow pencil is almost too pigmented to the point where it is hard to control when applying and very hard to blend. It also smudges very easily and doesn’t last very long.

Coty Airspun Setting Powder, Naturally Neutral

Airspun has amazing reviews and many YouTubers & makeup artists use this product. Despite being a drugstore brand that can be purchased for as little as $5.69, which is what i bought it for, Airspun matches up to popular high end names like Laura Mercier and NARS. This was by far one of my favorite drugstore products I tried out.

NYX Ultimate Shadow Palette, Brights

If I had to choose a favorite product out of the ones I tried out it would definitely have to be the Airspun Setting Powder or this palette. The palette is beautiful and super colorful. The pigment is great and it’s also very easy to blend. Im extremely happy with this purchase of $12.60, and I will definitely be using it again.

Wet n Wild MegaGlo Contouring Palette

This product comes in a circle shaped palette with a bronzer in half and a highlighter in the other. I really liked the bronzer half, it was very easy to blend and had just the right amount of pigment for contouring. The highlighter didn’t really seem to have any shimmer to it which I would prefer, but the lighter powder worked just as well too. I purchased this product for $4.99.

Maybelline Superstay Matte Ink, Lover

I previously owned a lot of these lipsticks and I really like them. I don’t remember the exact price of them, but I think I payed somewhere around $9. The formula is super creamy and stays on very long. This lipstick doesn’t flake or smudge, It stays looking nice all day long. I also really like the choice of colors Maybelline has for this product. The shades go from very light to very dark so there will always be something for everyone.

Ardell Wispies

Ardell makes a Deluxe Pack which comes with two pairs of Ardell Wispies, a small tube of DUO Lash Glue, and a false eyelash applicator. I purchased this for $4.57. Normally Drugstore Lashes are very shiny and fake looking because it is synthetic hair; however, I really liked these Ardell Lashes. They gave a very nice natural look while still adding plenty of length and volume. They also make extra long wispies which I’m definitely going to try out soon.

Essence Lash Princess Mascara

This mascara was purchased for $4.99. I’ve heard of it a few times but not enough that everyone knows what it is. I read some reviews before buying this mascara and they all seemed to be very good. After trying it out for myself I found that this mascara gives great length but not enough volume. I prefer a volume mascara just because I already have pretty long lashes, but if you’re looking for length I would recommend trying this out.

NYX Makeup Setting Spray

This Setting Spray says it is a Matte Finish & Long Lasting. I purchased this product for $6.99 and when i first tried it out I really liked it. The setting spray has a nice subtle smell and feels really refreshing, but I did start to look a little greasy almost an hour later.

Thank you guys for reading! Don’t forget to check out the video this article is based off of and see me use all of these products for the first time.
