There really aren’t norms anymore in today’s society, making a lot of people open minded to
ideas that wouldn’t really be acceptable before now. We’re going to take a look at the top 4
models that we should see more of.
Khrystyana is a curvy model and body positive activist. She uses her platform mostly to promote
body positivity on social media and she gives speeches supporting the cause. She is the creator of
“The Real Catwalk” which is a pop up fashion show to help spread her positive message and
challenge beauty standards. This is a good way to grab people’s attention and get her message
across to everyone.
Winnie Harlow is a model who was diagnosed with the skin condition vitiligo when she was 4 years
old. As you can see, this condition causes depigmentation of portions of the skin. She recently
made her mark as the first model with vitiligo to walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. This is definitely
a huge deal because Victoria’s Secret has a large audience and they should be using their
platform to spread a positive message.
Ashley Graham is currently a super model and body activist. She is making history for plus-size
models by being the first plus-size model to appear on the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit
Issue. It is hard for curvy models to get the same opportunities a skinnier model would get so a
big magazine putting Ashley on their cover might open more doors for curvier models.
Marquita is another curvy model and she works for Ford Models. She has modeled for
Jean Paul Gaultiee during the Paris Fashion Week, but she is one model we definitely
should be seeing more of in magazines and fashion shows because she is a good
example of diversity.
Each model should have something unique to offer to the modeling industry and all of these
models are an example of how different everyone is from one other. We all should be trying to
give the message that being different is okay, which starts with who we see when we watch tv
and go on the internet. These women continue to inspire other women around the world every
